We were approached by BINX Smartility, a company then unfamiliar to us, based in Groenlo. They were participating in a Design & Build tender for a new educational campus designed to support children from ages 0 to 18.
The campus would feature multiple teaching levels, a nursery, a library, and a large auditorium with a stage. A full-sized sports hall would sit alongside the main building, creating a complete and future-ready learning environment.
BINX asked us to collaborate on the structural design, specifically focusing on the main load-bearing system. In our initial meeting, we reviewed the scope of the project and identified the key needs of all stakeholders involved. This led to a clear set of structural priorities:
- Slim floor systems
- Flexible and open interior spaces
- Simple detailing for faster execution
- Dry construction methods with no need for props or bracing
- Integrated fire resistance
- Efficient planning and delivery of a turnkey solution
With various stakeholders involved, each with their own expectations, the solution had to balance speed, simplicity, and high performance. BINX was looking for a structural approach that could streamline construction while maintaining quality.
Through multiple engineering sessions with BINX and Adviesburo Wiggers, we developed a design based on the DELTABEAM® Composite Beam combined with the HPKM® Column Shoe. This structural system met all project requirements, offering speed, precision, and long-term value.
This integrated solution became a core part of BINX’s successful proposal. We’re proud to have contributed to such an innovative and forward-thinking educational project.
