Efficiently built, sustainably designed.

New administration building for technology group in Ravensburg

With the new office building in Ravensburg, Matthäus Schmid Bauunternehmen GmbH & Co. KG, as client and general contractor, created modern working environments with a sustainable concept. The five-storey hybrid timber construction, with a floor area of 915 m² per storey, was erected in just 15 days – an impressive example of efficient construction processes and well-thought-out planning.

 

Quick assembly thanks to well-designed system solutions

The construction process followed a clear pattern: the supporting structure for the five-storey building was quickly erected around the stiffening reinforced concrete core, consisting of DELTABEAM® Composite Beams flush with the ceiling, slender ATLANT® Composite Columns and CREE façade and ceiling system elements. The forces between the floor panels and Composite Beams were transferred using the proven MODIX® and STUDIX® Rebar Coupling Systems. This combination ensures a durable, flexible and resilient structure – ideal for modern office buildings.

This not only allowed the work to be carried out quickly, but also cleanly. Only the Composite Beams and the joints between the beams and ceilings were concreted on site. Without any additional fire protection cladding, a fire resistance rating of R90 was achieved for the ceilings, columns and beams. Practical: the electrical installation was routed between the ceilings and composite beams. This leaves the wooden ceilings completely visible.

 

Intelligent connection technology for maximum efficiency

PCs® Corbels were used to connect the DELTABEAM® Composite Beams to the solid reinforced concrete core of the building. The brackets were already installed in the formwork of the reinforced concrete walls at the precast plant. On the construction site, the bracket block only needs to be screwed onto the wall insert. Once installed, the bracket can be loaded immediately, which also contributes to the speed of construction.

 

Focus on sustainability

The building meets the KfW 40 standard and impresses with its hybrid timber construction, which has a GWP value that is over 50% better than conventional solid construction. As a renewable raw material, timber contributes to CO₂ storage and creates a pleasant indoor climate. The sustainable concept is complemented by a future-proof energy supply using geothermal energy and heat pumps.
